Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
