President Trump Invites Relatives of Shot Guard Members to White House
Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Tragic Shooting
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.
Vigils across the state have been held in their memory.
White House Offer
The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”
Community Support
Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in Washington DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that educators wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her previous school, informed the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to help others.”
Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Legal Measures and Government Revisions
Officials have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The incident prompted the administration to pause asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on the program that she also intended to visit his relatives.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
