US President Donald Trump Says 'Generally, Parties Are Aligned' on Next Stages of Peace Deal in Gaza

The American leader has remarked that "in general, agreement exists" on how the following steps of the peace deal in Gaza will unfold, though he conceded that "certain specifics … will be resolved."

"Hamas is gathering them at present," he stated, referring to the captives yet to be freed in Gaza. "They find themselves in quite harsh locations."

He, who has been commended by the organization and various Israeli figures for his part in achieving a ceasefire deal, remarked he believes the accord will "remain in place" because "both sides are tired of the hostilities."

Upcoming Summit on Gaza Situation

Concurrently, the president aims to bring together global figures for a conference on the Gaza situation during his travel to Egypt in the coming week. Among those anticipated to join are officials from the Federal Republic of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Indonesia.

According to sources, PM Netanyahu will not be present.

President's Schedule

Trump affirmed that he would confer with a "lot of dignitaries" in Cairo on the start of the week to discuss the future of the Gaza Strip. Reports suggest that he will also travel to Israel, where he will appear at the Knesset.

Significant Events

  • Tens of thousands of Palestinians made their way to the severely damaged northern Gaza Strip on Friday as a ceasefire mediated by the US came into effect. Those still 48 captives—some 20 of them thought to be surviving—will be let go by Monday.
  • Issues linger over who will govern Gaza as Israel's military slowly withdraw and whether the group will disarm, as required in the proposed deal. The Israeli leader, who terminated on his own a halt in fighting in March, suggested that Israel might renew its military campaign if Hamas fails to give up its military assets.
  • The international body was granted permission by the government to start distributing increased aid into the Gaza Strip from this Sunday. This assistance will comprise significant amounts that have already been positioned in adjacent states such as Jordan and Egypt as relief coordinators awaited clearance from Israel's military to resume their work.
  • An official Stéphane Dujarric told reporters on Friday that energy supplies, medical supplies, and vital resources have commenced entering through the Kerem Shalom border point. UN officials are calling for authorities to open more crossing points and ensure secure passage for relief personnel and civilians who are returning to areas in Gaza that were under heavy fire just a short time ago.
  • Lebanese President he denounced Israel on Saturday for executing raids during the night on civilian facilities that the health authority said killed at least one person. "Once again, southern Lebanon has been the object of a heinous offensive against non-military facilities—with no valid reason or excuse," the president stated.
  • The government provided a inventory of the individuals in custody that it aims to let go as part of the truce deal made with the organization. Of the 250 detainees, 15 will be let go in the eastern part of the city, a hundred to the region, and 135 will be sent abroad. At first, when representatives of the group presented a list of proposed inmates to be let go to intermediaries in the country, they called for the release of high-profile individuals such as Marwan Barghouti. But, Netanyahu's office stated it will not agree to free the individual.
