World Series Game 7 Captures 51M Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extended clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51M watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball stated this is the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the game drew 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match series averaged 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two straight years.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance after the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
